HP White Laboratory Receives “Superior” Security Rating from Defense Security Services

Armor Testing Lab Rises to the top 4% of DSS Audited Facilities; Underscores Commitment to Consistency, Accuracy and Integrity

Baltimore, MD – HP White Laboratory, Inc., the world’s largest independent test laboratory for body armor, received a superior rating in an annual vulnerability audit by the U.S. Defense Security Service (DSS). DSS completed the annual review at HP White in December, and raised the company’s security rating to “Superior”.  Fewer than four percent of the facilities DSS oversees receive a superior rating.

A Superior rating is reserved for contractors that have consistently and fully implemented the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). “Achieving DSS’s highest security rating underscores HP White’s commitment to total operational consistency, accuracy and integrity,” said Mike Parker, president, HP White Laboratory, Inc.  “This clearly demonstrates that security is an operational concern of every employee and in everything we do here at HP White.”

To achieve a Superior rating, HP White must demonstrate documented procedures that heighten the security awareness of employees, a sustained high level of management support for the security program and the absence of any serious security issues. . “We are truly honored to receive our first superior rating,” said Facility Security Officer Amy B Grover. “We continually strive to improve our security practices and support the protection of war fighters.”

Supporting national security and the war fighter, DSS is responsible for approximately 13,000 cleared contractor facilities. The agency ensures the security of the nation’s technological base and oversees the protection of U.S. and foreign classified information in industry.
